Perfumers around the world are working hard, mixing a lot of chemicals to derive that “disruptive fragrance” but, at the same time the perfume industry is regulated by certain quality control compliances. These compliances may range from detecting harmful chemicals in the odor to keeping a check on the quantity of chemicals used and to an extent, exploring the chemical composition of a fragrance.

In this field test report, zNose® is used as a quality control tool for quantifying the concentration of chemicals used in 25 basic fleuressence aromas. The ‘good’ chemical signature once defined allows for objective and quantitative quality control testing with zNose® analyzers integrated into the perfume production process.
